About Dr. Kilcup

Alison Kilcup is a board-certified psychiatrist practicing in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Originally from Los Angeles, she completed her medical and psychiatric training in Chicago and Seattle before settling in Oregon. In addition to her medical training, Dr. Kilcup has undergone training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). She has extensive experience treating substance use disorders, as well as individuals who have had traumatic experiences.

Dr. Kilcup believes that healing from mental illness begins with feeling understood. She knows that every patient is unique and seeks to understand each person’s values, strengths, and idiosyncrasies before jumping to diagnosis and treatment. Her goal is to empower her patients to build a fulfilling life outside of treatment, and uses lifestyle intervention, psychotherapy, and medications when appropriate to accomplish this.
